Warsaw, 28 May 2010
Dear Mr.
Tomasz Sulima
Informal Group of Young Ruthenians
Thank you for sent an "Open Letter" in which you presented the material for "Orthodox Ruthenian minorities' problems. Before I set up for the list of specific questions, I assure you that If the voters' will embrace President's office, the problems living in Poland and ethnic minorities will be the subject of my constant preoccupation. This declaration does not result from a desire "to please" in the ongoing campaign, the group of potential voters. In my deep conviction to ensure genuine equality of all citizens, irrespective of their nationality or religion, in all spheres of life is one of the most important responsibilities of the Polish state. With respect to national minorities and ethnic groups who speak the regional language, it means making and support state actions to preserve these communities for their own national identity. An important sphere of activity is the introduction to the current legal system of anti-discrimination standards. Anti-discrimination must be combined with social education aimed at changing the current is still negative in the Polish society towards minorities, stereotypes and prejudices. The necessity of educational activities, and on part of Polish political elites, provide much of the attitude, even in the current term of office, MPs opposed to the adoption by parliament of important legislation for minorities. Examples are prepared and reported to the marshal's stick by the club members' bills Left: "The financing of the Orthodox Seminary in Warsaw from the State Budget" (printed 1411), "Act on veterans and certain persons who are victims of war and the period of post-war" (print No. 813). The first of the quoted project provides funding for the Orthodox seminary on the enacted analogous to the five principles of Catholic universities, the other would create the possibility of granting the courts of claims by the families of the victims of armed formations underground - including a branch of Romuald Rajsa, as you said in your letter. Unfortunately, the will of the members of the PO and PiS both of these projects, as prepared by Mr Eugene Czykwin Sejm a draft resolution condemning the barbaric action of demolishing Orthodox churches in Chelm and Podlasie in 1938, were in the parliamentary "freezer."
share, so I give the word in my public speeches, in your view about the need for an objective assessment of the communist period. I was and am against politics settlement and stigmatization of people, but for the fact that under the existing legal norms and political work of honest serve his fatherland.
Referring to the issues raised by Mr issues relating to "internal politics" I wish to inform you that the Left supports the club, proposed by the group members prepared draft law " amending the Law on Government Administration and Law on National Minorities and ethnic and regional language (print No. 2390) proposals for transfer of powers Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration in the sphere of culture, national and ethnic minorities to the Ministry of Culture and Education. In this case, the importance will be the position of the Government and the Joint Commission of National and Ethnic Minorities.
issue celebrated Christmas by the Julian calendar is the subject of discussions of the Joint Commission and the Polish Government of the autocephalous Church autocephalous. Like the above-mentioned matters declare its readiness to support the Orthodox party satisfactory solutions. I would also like to recall that the issue of days off during the Orthodox Christmas in schools in Podlaskie Voivodship in 2001 - 2005, thanks to the adopted by the then Superintendent of Schools Ms. Sophia Trancygier solutions did not arouse controversy.
also share your opinion about the need to build a friendly, mutually beneficial relations with our eastern neighbors: Belarus, Russia, Ukraine. In my view, such relations can not be built without addressing the free border crossing of Polish citizens and these countries. Therefore I will initiate and support solutions aimed at agreement on visa-free movement border between Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and European Union countries.
Wishing you every success I would like to ensure that whatever the outcome of the presidential election, I will support all initiatives aimed at creating conditions in Poland, in which citizens something at the minority, with equal opportunities in all areas of life, can both preserve and cultivate own tradition, faith and culture.
Sincerely,
/ - / Grzegorz Napieralski
